our creative space . . . 'creative taste buds'

Greetings all,

My studio is really coming together, a huge effort seeing i've halved the size & put all my storage tubs in there too, spreading out was sheer luxury.  So while i'm not crafting, i'm working on other parts of . . . me . . . like my desire to drink tea, but disliking the taste.  I have always loved the idea of organic happy healthy teas (sans caffeine) i sampled some fruity ones iced over Christmas.  Now with Winter fluttering in, i'd like an alternative to hot chocolate (calories) & this week took myself off to T2 for an education on what suits my very inexperienced tea palate.

 This is not a PR post, i paid the $68 for the jug & teas from my hot little pocket, however, every staff member i've ever come across in this shop is so informative & enthusiastic about tea, i'm happy to promote them.  This week i picked up the smaller jug (i have the 2L - it's quite a commitment) & these flavours, which, shock horror, i enjoyed (in store samples) as hot teas.  I was so proud of myself & how creative my taste buds are becoming.

 So this morning, between the school run & errands, i popped home for a cup of toasty nougat & homemade cookies, it was so comforting & dare i say, filling . . . satisfying!!  Tonight i'm going to try the red choc mint, which the T2 girl said is amazing with a splash of milk too.  Mmmm.  I like this pace but i'm never drinking coffee, i like the smell but taste, ick.

a spooky weekend . . .

Many thanks for the heart warming comments yesterday, i finally heard from my husband last night, he couldn't say much other than he's Ok (physically).  I can not imagine the horror of being machine gunned by a soldier you are training to help protect his country, on your own base.  It has happened before to British & American troops, it's my greatest fear for my husband who doesn't patrol outside the wire as often as he used to.  War is war.  I went to the doctor this morning to start my carpal tunnel surgery journey - the lady ahead of me, hysterical, her nephew was one of the soldiers killed.  I felt like crying through my whole appointment, being painfully poked & prodded aside.
Halloween is not widely celebrated here in Australia but we enjoy a pagan festival.  My late mother-in-law was born on Halloween, but i can't say she was a witch, far from it, never heard her say an ill word about anyone.

 Mwahahahaha.

 Saturday night, these two maniacs went to a Halloween disco, as a witch & a rag doll.

 This patient boy ran around the car park before the party started, for an hour!!

 We were early as we had to buy new Nike waffles (like spikes) before the store closed at 5p.m.  She's trying to drown out the singing from the hyped up twin sisters. 

 A basic pre-party snack . . . everything looks better served with flowers. 

 Saturday was wet, athletics cancelled, but it ended with a rainbow.

Enjoy Halloween if it's your thing.  Tomorrow i'm going to stock up on spooky goodies in the sales as my eldest would like a Friday the 13th Party next year, love Posie

itch'n to get stitch'n . . .

I love hand stitching, embroidery & tapestry, give me any crafts you can do 'unplugged' in the car, on the lounge, watching children's sport . . . the latest issue of Mollie Makes magazine is filled with stitchy goodness, it does not disappoint.

 Even better, stitching in a hoop!!

 Mollie does a cute embroidery hommage to tea & coffee (shame i don't drink either).

 I picked up these fabulous stitchy books in the past few weeks.

 The cute transfer style of Sublime Stitching is a winner, especially with my children who have a love of handycrafts too (remember we don't have any hand held electronic gadgets in this house or in the car for long trips, i go all Amish on them in the car).  I think the Cath Kidston house cushion below is so sweet!!

 I am so doing this embroidery over the Christmas break, my son has a few products with this Cath Kidston cowboy print on it, now he'll have a cushion to match, stitched with love.

 This image of the cherry cups in the adorable cupboard ever, is a little eye candy nod to darling Heidi in Alaska at The PolkaDot Petticoat.  The shelves in her home are lined with extreme divine vintage gorgeousness.

 Oh oh oh, LONG time fan of Heidi over at The Polka Dot Petticoat, blogging from Alaska USA.  Here you'll discover updates on the local family of moose who moved into her garden, an amazing converted house filled to the brim with a lifetime collection of vintage & antique finds, creating a cosy home, which photographs like the pages in a coffee table book.

 It's a French vintage style children's shop-spin-off 'le blog'.  Do i even need to say more??  Dorothee from My Little Day has the most incredible eye for detail, colour, styled photo shoots & old school party fun, she needs to be shared with the world.  Can't read French, use an on line translator, 'le blog' not to be missed.

 Yay for Australian blogger Jacinta from MODELmumma in country Victoria . . . who just announced (Beyonce style) her 3rd baby bump!!  Congratulations!!  This girl can rock op shop finds, mix colour, bohemian prints & $1 finds like nobody else.  She's also a hat person, i know, she's got it all going on + she makes the alterations on vintage fashion herself!!

 Talk about handmade talent, honest parenting, heart breakingly down to earth, wholesome & all star American - she's a mother of many, married to a handsome fireman . . . i have followed Samantha & her journey on The Handmade Dress blog for years.  Anyone who can put an image of themselves in this situation - the exploding nappy - is totally keeping it real.  She also makes beautiful patterns for children's clothes.
