the 'tangled' web of boys versus girls & MOVIE TICKET G I V E A W A Y

Greetings all,
Yippee, Disney has made one of my favourite fairytales, Rapunzel, into an animated movie, Tangled - my children will love to see these school holidays!!  Nuffnang have kindly sponsored this promotion & giveaway . . . click here for the Tangled trailer.

The Official Word . . . Walt Disney Pictures presents TANGLED, an action-packed, swashbuckling, animated musical comedy about the girl behind 70 feet of magical, golden hair.  A princess stolen from her parents’ castle as a baby, Rapunzel (voice of MANDY MOORE) is locked in a hidden tower longing for adventure.  Now an imaginative and determined teenager, she takes off on a hilarious, hair-raising escapade with the help of a dashing bandit (voice of ZACHARY LEVI).  With the secret of her royal heritage hanging in the balance and her captor in pursuit, Rapunzel and her cohort find adventure, heart, humor, and hair… lots of hair.  With original music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Glenn Slater, this comedic re-imagining of the classic Brothers Grimm fairytale comes to theaters in Disney Digital 3D™.
With 3 big sisters, my son is well informed of what girls can do better than boys, they keep telling him!!  Sure it's a genderless society for children these days but how much fun is it to play good old fashioned boys versus girls games??  To test it out, in the spirit of Tangled, i devised some events, games & competitions for my family, to see who are better, boys or girls??
First up was . . . Target Shooting, nerf gun versus IKEA-cups-in-the-hallway-shooting-gallery-style. I figured with my son teaming up with a professional soldier, it might take all 4 of us girls to try to beat them!!
We didn't, the boys won & had way more fun that us!!
Round two . . . Cup Cake Decorating. This was an individual event & highly competitative, Daddy was the judge.
My son won, another victory for the boys!!
Word on the street is that my son had tipped Daddy off & asked him to vote for the cup cakes in the blue wrappers, foiling my blue-for-boys, pink-for-girls secret theme!!
Third event . . . Lego Building, who could build the tallest tower the fastest??
The winner was our eldest daughter, Boys 2: Girls 1.
Ding ding, round Four . . . Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Spinning around, blind folded & heckling, this is much harder than it looks!!
Some tails went a little haywire after spinning the children around, this was another victory for my son, Boys 3: Girls 1.
The final game . . . Plaiting our very own Rapunzel's Hair!!
Sorry ladies, my husband won this!!  In our family, the boys are just better than girls, so we're happy for them to do their best at cake decorating, shotting play guns & plaiting hair, we can be ladies of leisure!!
Did someone say G I V E A W A Y . . . two of you lucky readers will each win a family pass of 4 tickets to see Tangled!! Just follow this blog & leave your favourite boy versus girl game in the comments for your chance to win, you will be judged so have fun, drawn 5p.m. on 9th January 2011. Click here for terms & conditions.
Still want more, check out the Nuffnang Community Contest & participate with your own blog post about a personal funny boy vs girls experience for your chance to win $500.  Details on the site.  Good luck everyone!!
FYI this movie is getting rave reviews, did you see the Tangled 'voices' Mandy Moore & Zachary Levi on The 7p.m. Project last week, ah, i love Mandy, she's so gorgeous - they were a huge hit!!  Then David & Margaret rated Tangled 3.5 & 4 stars repsectively on The Movie Show on the weekend.  Enough said, go see it, adults will really enjoy it too!!  Love Posie

Our favourite boys v's girls game was always pictionary! Secretly, Santa has purchased the lego version (Creationary) for the little people in this house for Christmas. Would love to win the tickets for this movie to keep them entertained over the holidays. Thanks.

Goodness! That sort of active caper is what my mother used to make us do on Christmas Eve to make us all exhausted and ensure we slept!

What an action-packed holidays you're having.

I grew up with a sister so really hardly ever played with boys! I must say though, my dad is great at plaiting hair, mostly beacuse he learnt on his horses. That actually sounds weird when I type it, but it wasn't really. We had ponies as children and used to take them to horse shows :)
I've heard the movie is great :)

Boys V's Girls - Many years ago we had friends over for dinner. Through the doorarrived three girls (4, 8 and 10) with about 100 beanie kids. All was going well until Ammoured Corps Mr descided to start a throwing firght - the girls teamed up against him and created a leather bunker (behind the couch) Girls won:) Then it wass Mr's job to calm them all down:)

Nice work there! At my house it's 4 girls and one daddy. Yay - we win already :O) I think the fav at the moment is 'Stacks on Daddy'. But 3 girls also love to try to beat him at soccer in the backyard.

Hi Posie,

As a child my sister, brother and I had a special game for when mum was watching the ABC news.... we would turn the lights off in our room for total darkness and secure a position in our bedroom. Strategically mine was always on the top bunk....soo armed with a container of water and a toilet roll we would make soggy bombs and pitch them at each other. The person with the most hits won!! stacks of fun, very messy! had to be very dedicated to play this game because the wrath of mum coming into our room splattered in wet toilet paper was never much fun! And the winner? usually me due to my top bunk pole position - but it didn't matter!! happy messy times. xxxx

As a child my sister brother and I would play this secret game when mum was either entertaining or watching the news...
We would turn the lights off in my bedroom - total darkness.... armed with a bucket of water and toilet rolls we would position ourselves (myself always on the top bunk) and throw soggy bombs at each other..the person with the most direct hits wins!! this game requires absolute dedication because facing mum with that soggy mess was never fun - but ohhh so worth it. As for the winner it was usually me due to my top bunk strategic positioning, but it didn't matter we had crazy amounts of fun! xxxx

Pictionary! It's a fairly even playing field for once, so wins are split evenly too. Merry Christmas!

We have 2 of each gender in our house. So Uno Attack can be a vicious battle to the death with alliances made and broken, cheats court marshalled and tickle tortured, enemies marshmellow bombed... it is a riot. Currently the scores are even, but there is a hint of feminine uprising in the air for the boxing day match...

Oh, I know a little girl who would love me to win this giveaway!
OK, so my favourite boy vs girl activity is called 'assemble the Ikea furniture'. I'm talking grown up boys and girls here. Now, if we were quick to stereotype we would think that the boys would be all over this one... but I have 'played' this with 4 different 'boys' over the years (my dad, husband, and 2 male friends) and I'm always the one who gets it done. Yes, sometimes they gain points for sheer strength, but I'm always the one who can follow the directions, work out the pieces and get the furniture together without swearing, throwing things, leaving the room or leaving out vital components.
Chalk one up for the girls! ;)
