my creative space 'spotty inspiration'

Greetings all,
Is it just me or is this year speeding up & are Thursdays coming around more quickly??  Feeling about 80% capacity right now, i'm hoping Zumba can knock out the kinks this morning.  I miss my husband, a lot, weekends are especially empty without him, so very much looking forward to his next trip home (in 8 days!!)
That means i have to jam a whole lot of sewing into the next week, devote a day to cleaning, gardening, mowing & sorting the garage so i can pretend we're always this organised without a man around.  I have more quilts on my mind & was super thrilled to see these Amy Butler Full Moon Polka Dot fabrics reprinted & reintroduced to my stash!!
 These prints scream "patchwork me".
Oh then Anna Maria Horner made a veleteen collection, yes please, patchwork me into a Winter quilt now!!
But it's always the spots-pin-polka-dots which steal my heart.
I feel like having a bit of a "Devil Wears Prada" moment (remember the scene about the two blue, i mean cerulean belts which to the untrained eye were thought to be the same, gasp??)  I could easily go into a monologue about how incredibly different these amazing shades of creamy yellow spots, dots & honeycomb prints are & how they coordinate to make dramatic effects against other fabrics in a patchwork combination . . . without drawing a breath or blinking, Meryl Streep style.
Now for something completely different but still creative - i headed to school early yesterday with a headache & intentions of heading my son off at his classroom door to divert him straight to the car & NOT the playground . . . on the wall i found this drawing with a story about the book 'The Wrong Stone' (no, i've never heard of it either).  His story went like this, remember he's 7 years old & in year 2 . . . "My favourite part of the story was the start.  And the end."  Have to say, exactly like his 3 sisters, he had the most detailed drawing of his class & spent as little time & imagination as possible on the writing - but his punctuation was excellent.
Finally, if you're heading to Sew It Together in Sydney weekend after next, you'll find some screen printed love from Posie in your 'show bag'.  UPDATE: Sheridan has just received them - among other amazing sponsor prizes!!
For your regular Thursday dose of Creative Space invading, check out Kootoyoo & see who is playing along with Kirsty this week.  Up for a $200 pink giveaway, follow this blog & comment at this post.  Good luck!!  Love Posie
PS Thanks for the Eat Pray Love comments, either crafty blogging mummies are very content & grounded, or we're all missing the point of the book/ movie/ casting/ story/ action/ constant seeking of approval & path she took.  I'll watch it again, i just love Italy & listening to the language.  I can cook Italian & shock horror, i eat it too.

I have a polka dot addiction too.

On the house front I think I'm going to have a day off sewing too, just to catch up on all those jobs that need doing around the house......think attack of the dust bunnies!

Your sons drawing really made me laugh! My husband would still say something like that when asked about a book/film. :)

My son is a bit the same when it comes to writing - make it brief and to the point!

Mmmm... yummy yummy Anna Maria Horner fabrics!!

Perhaps if you leave one of the chores undone, that way hubby will feel more needed!

go zumba - i just stood and watched the ladies at the local rec centre one day ! None were self conscious which is what i would have thought would be immediate reaction to jiggling. It must be good!

Your giveaway prize is ready to be posted (omg that's near on 6 months - so sorry!)

Oh Posie, I do like the way you started this post sounding a little on the downside, but picked up the pace throughout and finished with a burst! Love it! So exciting you get to see hubby soon. I still don't know how you do it. My hubby works very long days, but as long as I get to see him for all of half an hour before we go to bed, that satisfies me. Not seeing him at all would be tough. I love the drawing your little man produced, the writing... just brilliant! :o)

Sew Jennie, Sew!
You amaze me with the things that you get done :)
Quick question, where is a good source of both Amy Butler, and Anna Maria Horner? I have been wanting to get some, but my local quilting shop (that used to stock the former)isn't getting it in any more, and I really love to have a good look at a design first...

Spots and stripes never fail to steal this heart. And you've just reminded me that I am so behind the eight ball with this Zumba bizzo. (I think it scares me).

Velveteen? I adore velveteen. Although I very rarely sew (my WIP was cut out and pinned about 6 months ago and hasn't progressed), I just have to think of something to make with the velveteen.
