shhh, i'm watching OffSpring . . .

Greetings all,
Oh Asher Keddie, i'll never get enough of your natural radiance.  She is so well put-together on television in OffSpring, her dressing team should win their own Logie Award.  It's high end clobber, mixed with vintage finds & her delicious complexion . . . i've already posted on this before & how my 3rd girl effortlessly pulls off Nina Style glam.
I haven't purchased the Woman Weekly magazine for years, i live by their 1960's cook book, but put Asher on your cover wearing Kate Sylvester (a mummy of twins, did you know??) your magazine will leap into my trolley at the supermarket.
The cover line of 'i don't need babies to be a success' wasn't even a paragraph in the 7 page article.  Was that meant to rock the mummy reading demographic of WW??  I applaud anyone who chooses not to have children, she hasn't even ruled it out (she's 37, married 4 years) & really, is it our business??
Like Princess Mary, some girls just have a figure & colouring which makes the delicate lace gleam with perfection.  I love a belted feminine ensemble.
These are her horses (she has 5) on her property in Victoria's Macedon Ranges.
Anyway, i knew OffSpring was on tonight, but seriously, 4 nights this week at 9.30p.m. i'm VERY excited.  I don't even care if they are repeat episodes, that means handsome & steamy Dr Chris, yay!!  My children are asleep, my husband doesn't normally call around this time, Nina can keep me company.  Enjoy & happy viewing, love Posie

the new fashion . . . "Nina Style"

Greetings all,
I was discussing fashion & how my children dress, with a client.  I've never had an issue with dressing my 'tweens', all that awful gear with vampire slasher, studs, sequins, rips or slogans - don't get me started on black, well my guys don't like it (yay).  I explained how my children love layers, colours, accessories & their own twist on style, my client said "oh, Nina Style".  I knew exactly what she meant - Dr Nina Proudman from Offspring, that quirky obstetrician on television, she knows her whimsical style & wears it well.  Also helps that actor Asher Keddie is rather pretty, slim & has a complexion which suits any colour, texture & style!!
When i was a young girl, i would wear jeans, Tshirt, Converse then hope & pray no one noticed me.  I wasn't shy, just not fashion confident, accessory-less & my mummy, she wore 'house dresses'. . . say no more!!  I loved fashion & lived in the pages of Vogue & Cosmo, but it wasn't until i was an adult i actually got into it.
I might not have a great figure anymore, but i do like good quality & classic styling.  I don't mind investing in good clothes for my 4 children either, especially the 3 girls who can share (of course they will continue to love sharing clothes when they are teenagers) & so much can be handed down to their little brother (jeans, Tshirts, the odd jacket & shoes).
I rarely buy anything full price, case in point: Seed beanie $22.50; Country Road Jeans $20; Seed scarf $15; Esprit denim vest $15; Country Road top $12.50; Country Road boots $55 - see, all seriously reduced from RRP, as you know, "another 25% off reduced prices" is my bat signal to go shopping.
On Sunday afternoon i had to duck out to get milk & this is what girl child number 3 just threw together.  Nina likes a bit of cropped denim & vests, always layer, it's the rules!!
I picked up these denim pieces from Esprit on the weekend - went in to get middle daughter a new puffy Winter coat & . . . i came out with a new Winter puffy coat . . . + denim vest, denim jacket & 4 Tshirts, anyway, this super cute denim jacket with capped sleeves was $22.50, are you kidding me??  That's 25% of the original price!!
While google'ing images of Nina's style, i was so sad to read Don Hany (mmmm Dr Chris Havel) is listed as "past cast member" noooo, does that mean he's never coming back??  Also, that episode where her sister was getting rid of all her owls because they were unsexy, whhhhhaaattt??
Ooppss, accidentally found an image of Dr Chris.
 Nina's family style.
Lots more images of Nina here - what is with a television character having it's own FaceBook page??  Anyway, i don't understand FB, this just confirms it.
We're still at school this week in Canberra, Friday is Snow Day - a plain clothes day where you come in your snow gear (hello, that is normal plain clothes in Winter!!)  I'll be sure to post what my guys wear to school to rock their style on Friday!!  Love Posie

why my home won't be winning any style & design awards this Winter

Greetings all,
A lovely mummy fresh from the gym breezed into Shop Handmade & purchased a couple of dozen ceramic dishes in all sorts of sizes & colours for her dining table - which was ready for a Housing Design Awards photo shoot.  I wish.  While i have amazing plans for the homestead we're going to build, i have a vision of organisation, storage & casual, comfortable styling . . . reality is, i live in Army housing, our house is too small for our big family & the laundry is too tiny to even house an airer for Winter washing.

So as my eyes rest peacefully at this part of the lounge room . . .
this is the reality . . . i'm sure the Italians who designed these dining chairs & the Stokke folk planned them to double as flannette-sheet-dryers . . .
or the Biggest Loser trainers would like to see a treadmill acting as a giant clothes line!!
It's not often i lounge about in my knitted booties, but i'm letting the last of my head cold leave . . .
& enjoy OffSpring, i ponder about life like Nina (now on twice a week, loving that) . . .
pretending my cushions are styled nicely, not where the children let them land . . .
& like i cared that our puppy had helped himself to a blanket!!
I do love a neat & tidy home, at least one where the laundry is in . . . the laundry & puppies aren't lounging on human blankets, i also don't mind a bit of honesty in stylish blog world.  Keeping house . . . sometimes i throw up arms & consider watching the likes of OffSpring as a much better headspace than primping & preening a home which a stampede of children will dishevel again in the morning.  No, i will straighten the cushions, wash that blanket & fold the blankets, i have to wake up to a tidy house, but the washing, well, it's -1C when i drop the children at school, those sheets are only going to dry indoors.  Love Posie

social commentary Sunday . . . 'the world is going to end, really??'

Greetings all,
Let's pretend it's still Sunday . . . i couldn't let this topic go, seeing it was relevant to the weekend just past & all.  Now i was raised without religion or cultish beliefs, my parents were good Church of England types who believed in themselves, their family & community; being wholesome, honest & genuinely kind.  They were truly wonderful examples of generocity, hope & love; a God never entered our conversations.  They certainly raised the Children Least Likely to EVER Join a Cult.  We're joiner inners but not mindless followers.
Ok, so apparently the world was ending on the weekend & my husband mentioned "oh well, if it does end, at least i spent my last few hours fly fishing with my best mate" (reference my last post).  Nice to know where his wife & children fit into the Dooms Day scenario.  Technically we were invited to the picnic by the river, so we're included in his final request in this world.

This concept of the-world-is-ending is not new, but with the internet & social media, it can spread like wildfire.  Cult enthusiasts are only a click away from selling all their possessions & paying non-believers to care for their animals & water the plants after they've been evaporated/ pulverised/ beamed up . . . who is the winner now??
People are tweeting like there is no tomorrow, he he he.
Have you ever signed up to a group who turned out to be nuts??
I joined the Multiple Birth Association when i was pregnant with twins.  The negativity was scary "you can't breast feed or feed them without help; you can't do cloth nappies; you'll never sleep again" were all the immediate well wishes.  Well i did breast feed in the middle of the night without any help juggling babies/ nappies/ boobs & fed them for 18 months; i did cloth nappies until they were toilet trained; they slept through the night from 3 weeks of age, 12 hours, both of them.  I didn't stay in the group for long, they were insular & did EVERYTHING together.  They way they spoke, their world ended when they had twins, where MY world began - at home with 3 little girls, sewing full time, retired from the real world in my mid 20s, it was bliss!!
Very happy the world didn't end, as OffSpring is on tonight.  Oh Nina, will your love life ever sort itself out??

If the world is still here next Sunday, you'll find out the winner of my Lego giveaway, fingers crossed - still time to enter.  Love Posie
