Greetings all,
Brrr it's getting chilly & soup is one thing i can cook really well. I planted my pumpkins too late for the season & my magic-cinderella-carriage-sized-pumpkins-dreams never fruited. Sigh, better luck next year!!
Anyway, to share with Paisley Jade's 'things i'm loving' this Friday . . . these delicious pumpkins came from the weekend's Farmer's Market, two types of orange (let's call them Butternut & Queensland Blue, i am most likely telling lies, they're the only varieties which come to mind). Onions, celery, seasoning & stock, how simple.
Toss in food processor, any excuse to involve KitchenAid apparatus in my cooking.
Then into Le Creuset to warm & serve.
I was the most keen - my children all took spoons directly to this pot insisting they didn't feel like soup, then tucked into delicious ham rolls with real butter. So next time i feel like cooking from the heart without the chopping, cooking or clean up, i have 3 frozen portions to reheat.
It was all washed down with freshly squeezed orange juice - efficient use of the food processor of course. It was everything orange for lunch on Sunday.
What's your favourite hearty homemade soup?? Love Posie
PS Have you entered my IKEA giveaway, good luck, drawn Sunday night.

broad bean soup - definitely the best and no chopping. Or just straight pea soup - all the things you mentioned but using frozen veg - cooking from the heart made even easier!
My favourite is Pumpkin but I use leek, pumpkin and potato with a couple of stalks of rosemary, chicken stock, seasoning and it's done. Yum! I cook on the wood stove from April until about Oct/November up here in the hills and there's always a pot of something bubbling on the stove, love that part of the cold days...

I use the same ingredients in mine! :) lol (Well, I might be a little bit naughty and add some sour cream if there is any in the house ;) Shhh!) Thankfully both of the boys still like it. :)
Pumpkin is by far my favourite too, but I roast my pumkin first with a drizzle of maple syrup, then add whatever ingredients tickle my fancy at the time....so good with fresh bread :)
Yum! I love pumpkin soup.
And I am loving your appliances. I have been hinting for a few KitchenAid appliances and a Le Creuset pot for ages. He doesn't seem to be listening...
Hey there Jennie...great minds think alike!!! I made pumpkin soup too this week...never fails to hit the spot...Still here...will take up to 12 months for shoulder to fully function (yipes!!!)...not driving yet...can lift arm up to shoulder level...doing physio...etc...Just popping to say hi....hope all is well...Happy cooking...lots of love, Dzintra
PS I have a food blog also...www.dzintrasdolcevitablogspot.com
It's only just beginning to feel like soup weather here but you've reminded me to take out some chicken breasts to make my famous flu and cold fighter soup.
All the usual suspects go in but with the addition of heaps of garlic, ginger and chillies to zap out the nasties as the thermometer drops and the sniffles increase.
Everyone love it as it can be had on its own as a clear broth [with bits], with angel hair pasta for chicken noodle soup or zapped in the blender for a heartier version - hmmm, am hungry now!

I sooooo love pumpkin soup!! Heard a chef saying the other day that he adds peanut butter to his soup to give it a nutty taste and a squeeze of lime juice and serves it with a dollop of natural yoghurt! Sounds interesting!!
Minestrone, Lamb shank and vegetable! Both if those will get lots of goodness and vegies down my reluctant teenage boy's throat without too many complaints and I can enjoy them too!
Soup for my soul...thanks! I just realised you werent on my blog roll.....naughty me! I have fixed it up. xx
I do love pumpkin soup, but then a good potato and leek is great, as is pea and ham, minestrone, french onion.... I admit I hate tinned tomato soup, yech!
Pumpkin is a fab here too as is minestrone and French onion. I love homemade soups they always taste so much better.
Much love for pumpkin soup too. Such a cheap vegie(mostly). I love putting in red lentils and tomatoes and a bit of cumin and nutmeg and maybe some garam masala for abit of zing. Also squeeze some lemon on top too. But alos love that heaing soup of Felicity's too.
I'm still finding it a challenge for my son to eat my cooking. I will keep persevering.
It really is perfect soup weather at the moment - yum! My kids won't touch pumplin normally, but for some reason pumpkin soup is a winner in this house. Maybe because I let them drink it through a straw and dip as much toast as they like into it.
Hi, Jennie thanks for dropping by my blog, I am a big soup fan but not so the kids only if its minestrone, they love the pasta..... kids.
My goodness Posie, that sounds so simple! I have only ever made vegie soup, it's very nice, but a little fiddly... that's why I am so surprised how easy this one you've shared looks! Maybe I should give it a go. Though not a huge soup fan. But it IS full of so much goodness.
Ham rolls look tasty :o)
I could totally have soup everyday, but hubby thinks it's a lunch snack and not suitable for dinner :(
Roasted pumpkin tops the list, creamy chicken and corn and then tomato (all homemade of course, tinned soup = yuk). All served with fresh homemade bread and butter....
Oh if only it would get really cold and wintery over here!!
I love minestrone soup. I could literally eat it every day. I add every vegetable imagineable, some tinned tomatoes, four-bean can mix, a bit of stock and I'm done. I don't add pasta to it, I'd rather fill up on the hearty goodness of it than the adddition of carbs. Happy Mother's Day for tomorrow! xx
