our creative space . . . 'secret forest bedroom makeover'

Greetings all,
We have a little elfin princess in our home.  She's ethereal, bohemian & you'll find her curled up on a toadstool.  Her soft squeaky voice & dinner plate blue eyes manage to suck me into agreeing with almost every crazy idea she has.  She's sported a chic French bob with short blunt fringe since she was 2 (after her twin sister cut the whole way around her hair) & wears feathery headbands & stripey tights to school, her spirit & style is uncrushable, until private school uniform.
Our 3rd girl is like no other . . . humming her way through life,
her twin sister got a bedroom makeover while they were away on camp,
with sore hands, i only had time for one room, Sophie's choice,
so the next weekend, while they were at a sleepover,
i did her bedroom as a suprise too.
She likes anything quirky & quitely soaks up praise,
her collection of birds, owls & toadstools is growing,
& at night time, it's quite magical, just like her.
I have all the tissue fans, balls & hearts in my shop, they make ace decorations!!
My son helped me hang lights (why use a stepladder when you can hoist an 8 year old boy on your shoulders??) . . . he's doing his best swivel chair "we meet at again Octopussy" impersonation.
I might not be sewing but i am fiddling around with the decorating.  For some seriously inspirational creativity, check out Our Creative Space every Thursday, love Posie

our creative space . . . 'glamping'

Greetings all,
It's just not a real school holidays without a sleepover - my children swap rooms, have friends over & build cubby houses all the time, but i thought we'd upscale & go a little more ladylike, dainty & mummy take over styled. . .
one bedroom was transformed into glamping . . .
glamorous camping calls for lots of cushions . . .
 bunting flags & lanterns . . .
 special teddies were invited . . .
any excuse to plug in the flamingo lights!!
These gnome & toadstool lanterns are permanently strung here . . .
tiny pegs are holding the temporary ones in place . . .
layers of tulle netting form a canopy . . .
the girls absolutely loved it & slept like babies.

our creative space . . . 'Spring cleaning & sticky hook magic'

Greetings all,
In my huge effort to Spring clean the house, declutter & get-things-up-off-the-floor . . . i've been busy with those sticky hooks.  We live in a rented Army house, we have to leave the walls unmarked (ha, our children would have to wear straight-jackets not to mark the walls) but those 3M hooks allow us to hang things, then remove them without a trace.  I wish this was a sponsored post, they're expensive but so good!!
Our study nook consists of 2 cheap IKEA desks; Flash Trash old trunks as seats; cheap finds from TYPO;  bird cage from The Reject Shop; Provincial lanterns; & cork board decorated with sports ribbons.  Everything but a power point, which would be handy, so we have a fantastic tripping hazard of an extension lead across the hallway.  Perfect - child trips & drags laptop off desk, both crash onto tiles together!!
For authenticity - school holiday child in jammies at midday with unbrushed hair.  Child: stylist's own.
I found this TOWELS hook contraption at Bed, Bath & Table, $25.  Stick up a couple of hooks, hang rack & da dah, 4 towels for 4 children & they have each discovered the ability to hang their towels, all week.  Their arms aren't painted on after all.  It's meant to sit on screws/ bolt to the wall, but the hooks are holding nicely.  One day i'll hammer & bolt as many things i want to MY walls.
For more crafty creative spaces (not just peeling & glueing hooks to walls) visit Our Creative Space today, i'm just offering a public service of how to get things up off the ground to free up more time to be creative!!  Love Posie

i'm grateful for . . . 'the little things which make up a-day-in-my-life'

Greetings all,
So many things to be Grateful For . . . all the little pieces which make up a-day-in-my-life, for example today . . . a box Lego Hero Factory sent to my boy to test drive for a giveaway next week, stay tuned.
A giveaway win in the mail from Tania of Imagine Lovely blog, another sweet blogger from the delightful Daylesford Victoria neck of the woods.  Shall reveal the bounty inside shortly.
Strawberries in season = excellent quality at an affordable price (handy when your children can eat them by the kilo).  I've purchased 8 punnets this week, more today & more to come.
I was thoroughly exhausted after collecting the children from school, not sure why, i spent a lazy afternoon at the cinema watching Horrible Bosses, it was good, those bosses were truly horrible.  Anyway, glad i had prepared the chicken for dinner the night before & very grateful my children accepted Portugese chicken on Turkish bread with avocado & strawberries as a suitable dinner.
Oh oranges, my son is obsessed with all kinds of orange fruit (mandarins especially) & i have two types of oranges overflowing the fruit bowl - some for eating (Valencia), some for squeezing (Naval).
VERY GRATEFUL for my patience . . . i went into my studio for some sewing, only to find my darling twins had decided to have a water fight with the spray bottles i use for ironing . . . the water hit the triangles i had been working on all week, making them curl up & basically destroy hours of work.  Deep breaths, i didn't even raise my voice, boy did i want to.
I put lots of these applique bunting flag combinations together & will sew around them tomorrow.  Click here for a how to & thanks for the great comments on that post.  Spray water bottle crisis averted but those twins are still in trouble!!
Ah, my boy, he gave me a very special i'm-not-in-trouble-&-i-love-you-mummy hug this evening!!  Bless his opportunistic heart.  He was reading in bed, we are watching his eyes as he has been squinting at school, he said to me "i don't want to have to wear glasses, i'm not a total nerd".  I said he'd only look more handsome, we'd get him some funky frames, to which he scoffed, "i don't do funky mum".
Above his bed are all the Tania McCartney 'Riley' adventure series of books - i'll have the latest one up for a giveaway in a week too!!
Then i found this girl, suspect number 1 in the water spray bottle incident, asleep on her floor cushion with her feet up on a chair, at the end of her bed??  I'll move her later.
I like pretty things, lanterns & candles make my eyes sing.  I found these new paper cut out syle at TYPO, in white & blossom pink, i want more, all bunched together in a big mass.
Finally very grateful my handsome soldier is safe & sound in Brisbane, as another heart broken family has lost a soldier in Afghanistan.  My thoughts are with them.
Wishing you grateful weekends along with Maxabella Loves . . . love Posie
