a cold, wet & sleepy weekend - preparing for the crazy that will be Monday

Greetings all,
What better way to spend a cold, wet & sleepy weekend without any sport, parties or shopping to do, than in your jammies & knitted booties, baking & playing with fabric.  I did go to Pilates, there was also sunshine in spurts, then took a bath, slide into new pyjamas & put fresh linen on my bed, which i shall enjoy tonight (after the finale of The Block).
After the success of the chocolate self saucing pudding, we gave a butterscotch one a whirl.
For authenticity i thought i'd add this next image - the moment after shooting the pudding, which had already been attacked by it's maker (middle daughter) . . . a sword fight broke out between her spoon & her little brother's fork.
I have a few giveaways coming up with Lego & books, i thought i might play around with my Scrabble magnets to make a fun image for the giveaway posts??
It's not the neatest of fabric stacks but i'm trying to turn from fabric stockist & return to sewing as a hobby, reducing this to a personal stash.  At least i'm no longer a lazy fabric librarian.  I'm using up all my bolts on sewing & selling FQ at the next Handmade Market.
Yay, i have a studio floor again.  All the vintage Tshirts on the rack will be on my website for sale in a few weeks, huge discounts, stay tuned for when i next open my on line shop.
Look what i unearthed . . . my Marimekko remnants.
The prints are so large & bold, i've made bags & cushions from them before, maybe now i'll make some simple retro cot quilts??
We had lamb on Friday night, i NEVER cook lamb without my husband, like EVER.  I used a gourmet lamb rub, i think it's a New Zealand brand, it was fabulous!!
The children made a waffle batter & used the Penguin machine thingy, which we hadn't touched in years - it was a slow weekend indeed.
So feeling well rested, a bit zen & thoroughly organised in my studio.
Wish me luck getting the children to school tomorrow (we live 20km north of the city) as . . . Canberra is expecting over 10 000 cars, trucks & caravans to descend on our nation's capital city at 9a.m. for a dozen different no confidence protests - most coming from our direction.  To say it's going to put our little city into grid lock, is an understatement.  I'm talking road trains - no idea how they are going to get through the roundabouts??  This is going to be crazy.  Most of we mummies were chatting on Friday afternoon at the school gate, we don't plan to attempt to head to school before 10a.m.  Eeekkk, there goes my Spin class, bummer.  The schools are expecting children all day, it's that HUGE & insane. Wishing you gorgeous weeks, spare a thought for me stuck in a protest convoy for 2-3 days, i'm just trying to get the children to school, love Posie

I think I am a little bit jealous of everything in this post, except the traffic jams; good luck x

What a glorious weekend you have had! Perhaps you should just extend it and skip school altogether... that traffic sounds like the perfect excuse! I just watched the block, couldn't help a few tears... so happy for Josh & Jenna, so sad that they all got passed in at auction, shows how cautious the property market is at the moment... devastating for them all, even though they will still sell... happy week! X

Jennie you have THE MOST AMAZING fabric stash...I am in complete awe of it :)

I don't like driving at the best of times let alone being gridlocked...good luck with that.

Just catching up on your posts, dear Posie...how darling is your Dad? That post just made me smile...I absolutely adore the way that you speak about your husband...just as it should be! You are a lucky lady, my dear!! Your weekend sounds sooooo lovely and just the way weekends are meant to be! Ahh a slow weekend is a good weekend Posie! Sounds lovely :o) My goodness those penguin waffles are the cutest things I've seen, how much fun!
That would be SO annoying to be wound up in all that traffic and protesting. Maybe call your own school free day... although with 4 kiddies around the house, that might be more difficult than just battling the road trains to get there! Have a great week Posie xo

Oh yes, i'd be all up for a day off & a long weekend, but they just had "a pupil free" day on Thursday, so it adds up to a lot of missed school. I might have to reassess the situation for Tuesday, it's going to be chaos. Love Posie

What a job down sizing all that fabric...envy plus!
Safe traveling to school...maybe you should stay and parent help instead of tackling it home again.

My goodness, I feel zen just reading about your zen-y weekend. A crafty type you are. I hope to finish my first quilt today. I got a sewing machine this year and got bit by the fabric bug!

My goodness - this sounds like such a divine weekend. Freshly laundered sheets are my weakness, and you 'stash' is truely amazing!!! Feel free to give it away to a friendly newzealander ;) haha
Hope you made it through the traffic ok this morning, what a nightmare.

Cute penguin waffles! LOVE the block - we've only just had the reveal of the lounge and hallway in NZ! Mmmmm, pyjama weekends - perfect.

oh dear! that doesn't sound like a good couple of days at all! i hope everything remains peaceful, at least, if not a bit time-troubling!

love the penguin waffles! :)

Oh i'd love to hang around & parent help, however, my children are too old now, they don't even have readers to swap. If only it was one of their craft club events & i'd hang around all day, like normal. Love Posie

Good luck with the road trains etc, was thinking about you this morning when watching the news.

Oh My Goodness, just look at that stash, AND it includes Marimekko...you lucky thing! Sounds like you enjoyed a delightful weekend, hope the traffic chaos isn't as bad as predicted? I'm spending Monday trying to workout my mum's overlocker - wish me luck!

I hear that the trucks were much lower in number than expected so I hope things weren't too bad this morning.

SOunds like a great weekend and you sound so much more rested up and chipper.

So can you come here now and clean up my fabric and sewing mess?

Hey - we have that penguin waffle maker too. Perhaps it's time to dust it off. Hope you made it to school ok this morning.

Oh, and next time my husband complains about my fabric stash, I am showing him yours:)

Sounds like a lovely weekend. But I always won over by lamb roast it blinds me to everything else like traffic jams and what not.

That Marimekko stash is beautiful! You have made me hungry for lamb now!

Woooh! My eyes are still bulging at the thought of having that kind of traffic moving through your local! It never occurred to me before that all those demonstrations I see on the TV are clogging up the city. I wish you calm zen thoughts and disposition in dealing with it all :)
Anyway, that last bit has nearly distracted me from (a) AMAZING dessert action going on at yours, and (b) breathtaking hyperventilation at Marrimekko stash and general fabric wonderland in general :) Hope you have loads of fun with it all. Kx

Mmm. Between your butterscotch pudding, and your marimekko, you have me very hungry indeed!

Sounds almost tempting to ring up the school and get the kids homework... or just let them skip it. Did I just say that? (Shhh. Don't tell ;)... )
