my creative space 'hot under the covers'

Greetings all,
Embracing Winter is the trick to enjoying it.  I thought i'd dig up ye olde hot water bottle cover recipe (which consists of laying a hot water bottle onto fabric & cutting around it) & mix it up with different fabrics, organic batting, quilting stitches, bias binding, fabric buttons . . .
I took half a dozen into Shop Handmade today, they're already featured on FB (thanks Tania).
I have many more cut out, in screen printed fabrics & boy's themes too.  The quilting takes ages, but it's fun.  I also like the smaller hot water bottles (no idea where to get them but we have some which came with covers from Peter Alexander) so if i find the mini bottles, i'll make some covers!!
Oh look at this one merchandised with Sheep's Clothing & Soft&Lush at Shop.
All this heat inducing goodness - just in time - those are snow clouds above school this afternoon.  My darling husband is coming home this weekend, leaving sunny warm Brisbane for a Canberra forecast of -6C on Sunday night.  He's already researched that woollen underlays & doonas are 30% off at David Jones.  Mega investment pieces for the next 15 years of marriage.  He might be a soldier used to roughing it, but when he's home, it's all about comfort.
My oil cloth bunting is in Shop Handmade too, super cute cubby house mini style & a larger version for outdoors.  Happy Creative Space folks, i'm sewing up more hot water bottle covers.  Love Posie
PS i could start every new post with a 'thank you for the comments on the previous one', you're all so awesome out there in blogland, THANK YOU!!  Seems i'm not on the only one who didn't shine on Mother's Day, sigh.  The IKEA giveaway was huge & stay tuned (follow this blog) as next up it's a mega LEGO giveaway!!
EDIT: did anyone else lose all their comments for today's post?? 25+ comments just up & disappeared??

Brrr! Minus 6? That's chilly Posie! Happy snuggling this weekend though - you deserve some down time.
Your water bottle covers look super. I still think your bunting looks terrifically cute too. :)
Enjoy your weekend!

You're in for a cold one, Miss Posie, but at least you'll have your lovely solider to keep you warm and toasty.

LOVE the bunting (of course I do!) and I love the last few posts you've written that I haven't had a chance to comment on. It's... refreshing to know that you are not infallible like I thought! A mortal! Like me! x

-6! That's really cold! Love those hot water bottle covers, it makes we want to switch from my over cooked wheat bags - you know when they start getting a certain smell!! In the depths of winter I've been known to use 2 heat packs in addition to my electric blanket ;-)

You know I was only looking at some hot water bottles (with woolly covers) in Big W & Sussan the other day! Oooo how I love a hot water bottle. I haven't actually had one for a few years now... maybe because hubby is the human bed warmer... he even lets me warm my feet on his legs! Sweetness :o)
LOVE your hot water bottle covers, they're gorgeous!
-6 is ridiculous. I'm so happy for you that your soldier will be home :o)

Those hottie covers are so cute...I grew up using a hottie that mum would wrap in a pillow case, I find I don't have the need to use them here though. Believe it or not but it's the bitter cold of a Wellington winter that I miss...open fires, flannelette pj's, electric blankets or hotties.
Keep warm Miss Posie :)

Minus 6??? Brrr. My Nanna is in Canberra, I have a feeling she will be bringing forward her annual trip to QLD to visit us. I was freezing last night when it hit 9 degrees!

I am loving your hot water bottle covers! They look awesome.

I was admiring your hot water bottles and reading your post when your message came through about my bedroom making over and it getting colder!!!

Nice work on the hot water bottle by the way!

This weather really is beautiful... fresh, crisp and sunny... but oh so cold. I realised yesterday that I have not lived in such cold conditions in my adult life, which means my wardrobe is really lacking in the appropriate clothing... I've been blowing the budget on Kathmandu thermals and jumpers for the boys but have completely neglected myself!

Wo, that's even colder than down here in Hobart! I'm totally addicted to the woodfire and electric blanket, even Molly dog has her own electric blankie mattress :)
Keep warm ! X

Those hottie covers and very cosy looking. I have found the little hotties in cheapie shops often with nasty looking animal covers. You may able to pick some up that way.

I'm fairly sure me and my hottie are having an affair. I am thinking of running away some where quiet with it and not speaking to anyone all winter.

One of my favourite things about winter is snuggling up with a hot water bottle.
You have inspired me to go and make a new cover for mine. It is the perfect winter craft project.

There was snow last night on the hills east of Mudgee (around Running Stream). Just cold here, but those same sorts of 'snow' clouds, we're just too low to get it!

LOVE the hot water covers - beats the blue plastic 'naked' look that mine has ;)

Enjoy the hubster being home!

I'm a sucker for a beautiful hottie cover and yours certainly are that. Bought a silly expensive one from Toast when in London last year but I couldn't not. I think they're my weakness.
