Baker's Delight giveaway & hot cross bun tips this Easter

Greetings all,
The good folks at Baker's Delight sent samples of their hot cross buns - original, chocolate & mocha - to taste test & offer my hungry readers a chance to win some vouchers!!  Well i'm a big fan of hot cross buns & kind enough to share - i gave the mocha buns to our school principal who was on her way to a staff meeting & the loved them, delicious!!  Yes, i know how to make friends & influence teachers, he he.  We paced ourselves with the chocolate buns at a friendly picnic, scrummy but also messy!!  I'm a traditional girl, happily chowing down on the old style buns with orange peel - remember them, a bit tart??  Or did you pick the bits out??  Baker's Delight make really tastey original Hot Cross Buns (orange peel free) . . . i may or may not have kept these aside for myself!!
Just follow this blog & leave a comment here to be win one of three $10 vouchers, some dough to buy some more dough!!  Australia only, or enter for a friend who lives here, near a Baker's Delight bakery!!  Winners drawn after Easter Monday midnight, good luck!!
So - tell me, how do you toast your hot cross buns??  In the oven on a tray . . . under the grill . . . or do you shove them in the toaster - where they get stuck!!  Me, i slice up the buns into thirds - great way to make a bun go further (handy when you have 4 children & different children covet tops, bottoms & centres) & the slimmer thirds don't get jammed in your toaster, no matter how wide the slots!!  That's my hot cross bun top tip (along with eating them in private with hot chocolate & a good book) - dreamy right??
Love Posie
PS having really frustrating computer issues my end, sorry, love you guys, please excuse me being quiet for a while!!

I never thought of thirds:) My family always wraps them in foil and then heats them in the oven. That way they get hot, but are still hot on the outside:)

Would like to be counted in! yummy looking in the toaster!

I cook them in the sandwich press. Does the chocolate melt out of the choccie ones and kill the toaster??

Mmmmm.
I'm not game to jam them in the toaster - it's the microwave or the grill for me.
I'll be a tad sad when these babies disappear off our shelves for a while.
My so-calle waistline miay be relieved though!
:-) xx

I love the traditional type although can take or leave the orange peel in them :) I pop ours on a tray in the oven but might give your 'thirds' idea a go x

Me, I'm the traditional type as well, just can't get my head around Chocolate hot cross buns and Mocha, that's heresy. I do the same as you, slice them in thirds and stick em in the toaster, once they're stale that is.

Love hot cross buns , have never had the mocha I must say sounds good though. I actually never heat them ...although after reading this might try it ..and the cutting into thirds.

Bakers Delight is my guilty pleasure. My hot cross buns go in the microwave as my family like them soft and melty

I really like the Bakers Delight buns, they're my favourite. I'll be buying a bunch of them tomorrow to have on Friday. I halve them and toast under the grill. I them top wit a heap of butter. Yum!!

Jammed in the toaster so the edges are crunchy and alittle blackened is the only way to go...cutting into thirds as you suggest is prob a good idea. Have a lovely Easter break Posie and can you believe its school hols already :) xx

We had them delivered through the kids' school and they arrive pretty much like pancakes, alas. I suppose it doesn't matter - they'll still taste the same!

I love traditional and in thirds into the toaster....not had one in years. Love Bakers Delight breads without them I have had to hone my bread making skills. Thanks for the reminder I will have fun making hot cross buns with the kids this weekend to go with our egg decorating.

I like your cut into thirds idea, I always cut them in half, squash them flat and pop them in the toaster. Mmmm mocha buns. They are my fave. xx
