the calm, after the storm . . .

Greetings all,
Quite the tumultuous week & now the calm.  I'm a talker, my husband is not, he used to say "you don't have to externalise every single thought" but it's how i roll.  Blogger beware!!  Saves a lot of baggage too.  I tell him exactly how i feel, no games, no faking, just raw honesty.  90% of the time i'm coping brilliantly but with end-of-school children who are tired & emotional, i'm exhausted & my aching hands are plain annoying, we're not ourselves.
After a teary late night phone call from Afghanistan, talking about Christmas apart, selling an investment property & buying a farm . . . i came home from Athletics this morning to this on my door step.
Eric from DesignABunch (the stunningly good florist next door to Shop Handmade in Canberra City) called to say he had just left flowers & i passed him in my street, big waves & smiles!!
The card was so beautiful, to think a tough soldier can phone in from a war zone, such beautiful words for a florist to relay . . . i truly married a special, thoughtful guy.  I don't like mushy romance, to have my husband sitting with me beats all the views in Paris, dinners in Italy & resorts in Singapore.
Christmas flower arrangments are now sorted, look at those glorious long stem roses.
Look at that red velvety goodness, i'm so lucky!!
So here is to cruising into the last week before Christmas with rested happy children & mother.  I close my Shop in 5 days, some huge savings in there people, up to 60% off including Christmas table accessories & stocking fillers.  I've removed all the 'sold out' items weekly to make it even easier to shop.  It's a serious sale, i'm closing my entire business down (after 11 years) in Easter 2012, with a massive remnant sale in February when school resumes.
Don't miss out on the Donna Hay & IKEA GIVEAWAYS on my side bar, both close tomorrow night. Good luck folks, i hope you're as lucky as me, love Posie

Lots of people fall in love and get married but not everyone stays in love like you two and it lovely to see. I would say you are lucky but I don't think it is luck - I think it is the result of a love nutured with care and communication in spite of the distance and other challenges. I am sorry you two can't be together for Christmas but you two are more together than lots of other couples I know! Enjoy Mr and Mrs Posie - I think you are both really "lucky"!

Jennie I think that you and your hubby are both very special people who truly love one another. I think there always needs to be someone in the relationship that is a talker or things just wouldn't work, I'm the talker here too. Communication and understanding are the key to a successful relationship and someone who is caring and thoughtful. Those roses are just beautiful and will make you smile each time you walk by thinking of your hubby. Take care and enjoy a relaxing week. xx

Such beauty in something so simple.

I think you do an amazing job coping so well on your own. I would say that you deserve flowers like that weekly, but I wonder if they would be so special if you got them all the time.

Sorry you won't all get to spend Christmas together this year. Distance is so hard but then again, some couples live under the same roof every day and still feel worlds apart. You two are obviously rock solid and the roses are such a beautiful gesture. What a wonderful hubby (and wifey too)!

What a lovely and thoughtful man you've got there! I tend to do the same thing when communicating. Say it like it is, get it all out there so there is no room for error, no second guessing. This time of year is full on! I love and dread it all at the same time! Thinking of you xo

He seems like such a wonderful, wonderful man. All the compassion and passion of his missus. It's no wonder your children are all so contained and confident, Posy.

I hope Christmas is great for you, regardless. x

I've been absent for too long and missed out on lots of great happenings at the Patchwork household - but what a delight to see this beautiful example of love to brighten the busy days before Christmas.

To you, your gorgeous husband and truly adorable offspring, I wish a season of good health, safe travels, lovely surprises and peace.
