our creative space . . . 'while the girls were away on camp, i got busy decorating'

Greetings all,
My sweet twin girls were off on camp this week - bless their hearts, it rained every day, lucky they were sleeping in cabins!!
They packed fashion for all weather conditions . . .
& yes, this is a mix of SAS sleeping bag with a vintage port + straw fedora??!!
As is tradition in our household . . . while you are away on camp, i get busy doing bedroom makeovers . . .
our middle girl has wanted her bed on an angle for ages (she has an angled 5th wall) & i thought, why not??  OMG, it's completely changed her room around, it's more spacious & looks fabulous.  Good call.  She was absolutely thrilled & loved the welcome home gifts on her bed.
I need to make curtains & tidy up the book case!!  At night with the lanterns on, it's so pretty, a little like the glamping episode last week.
Day 3 - i had a really awful headache & just couldn't finish 2 rooms in one 'camp' so i just cleaned up & hung the tissue fans & balls in the 2nd room . . .
& put all her decorating goodies & gifts on her bed, so we can do it together on the weekend.  Yes, they each got a bird & owl teapot, just because, they look so cute on their shelves.  Anyway, she's quite particular this 3rd girl of mine, she left me standing by the bus with the firm statement of "do not go into my room while i'm away, Mother".
They each came home to a little accessory from Alannah Hill too, squeals of delight.
So, it's still wet outdoors but i'm doing the camp washing anyway, including their wet-dog-smelling sneakers.  Oh mustn't forget, i'm doing a little Market today at Brindabella Business Park, yay.  Go visit more Creative Spaces, love Posie

Ohhh posie! This is too sweet!

I LOVE what you did with the room, & ever since I wanted to become a mother, I've dreamt of surprising my children with little gifts at the end of their beds.

Nothing better than a 'no reason at all' present :)

You are simply amazing. Your daughters are so lucky to have a mum like you. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous rooms! I'm trying to decorate my girls rooms but haven't quite got into creating yet, the time just seems to fly. And I love the fedora hat, quite styley indeed!!

Hi Jennie,

Girls are so much fun. I love what you do with their rooms. They must spend the entire trip home from camp wondering what shenanigans mum has been up to while they were away :)These are the memories they will hold forever.

Your daughter's room looks fabulous - I love the lanterns. I think we might have to find one for Ginger's room. DHA issue light fittings are awful aren't they? In our Sydney house someone had obviously broken one of the light fittings, and it would seem that unable to get one to match to replace it DHA just popped something else up instead.

Also, a clever idea for you to angle the bed; it looks fantastic. I bet your girls enjoy coming home after camp to find their room redecorated. My Mum did it once for me in primary school (mid 90s when stars and moons were in fashion) and the room was painted and there was a new quilt and mat on the floor. I was thrilled.

those photos of your girls look like ads! beautiful.
We decorated Alfies room this summer while he was away and unwittingly began the same expectation in our house - go away for long enough and you're room gets rejigged!
the results are fab - no wonder they loved them..fee x

the rooms look beautiful. My family and I were in Canberra when the queen was there as I was at a conference. Quentin couldn't go to our dinner at parliament house on Thursday night as she had some houseguests that night. I too have a new accessory from Alannah Hill as well as a new camisole! smiles and sorry I missed the Queen while I was conferencing!
