zooming into fitness

Greetings all,
So i mentioned my diet yesterday & had comments & extra emails about how, why, where, who, when . . . basically all you Australians/ NZ will have heard of pharmacist Tony Ferguson who created a diet shake/ soup/ bar replacement weight loss programme which you just combine with low carb, measured protein, no caffeine, no alcohol, no dairy & sensible fruit & salad eating.  Brilliant, simple, works for me!!  I'm quite keen to get this right, keep it off & set a healthy example to my soon-to-be-teens.  I'm quite OK with being an Austrailan size 12, just not a lumpy one, but a toned & trim one who feels good about her shape.  Straight up, i'm a curvy girl, with hips & boobs, this body has popped out 4 gorgeous children, it's done a good job!!
I was always fit & had 4 children in my 20s, straight out of University, so the weight fell off after each baby, especially with breastfeeding.  Even after twins i had a flat tummy + i did 2 hours of Yoga every day.  Hitting 30 was another story, carbs loved me & they won't budge unless i cut them from my diet.  I did Tony Ferguson last year & lost 15kg.  During the 9 months my husband was away this year, diet was the last thing on my mind, so i had hot chocolates when i felt like them, a few too many yummy lunches & didn't bother with exercise & 10kg crept back on.  So . . . with handsome soldier back on leave . . . I've been walking & now my bike is serviced, i'll be pedalling around the neighbourhood too.  He even bought me a new yellow bike helmet - i thought i'd chose a colour NO ONE ELSE including the children would want, seeing we have 6 helmets in the garage!!
The children want to do more riding too, around the lake & city sites (as you do in Canberra) so my husband got us one of these - a big 4 bike holder for the back of the car.  I'll use it to take my bike to school then cycle to Shop Handmade, brilliant!!  If we want to cycle as a family of 6, we'll have to use the trailer, they just don't make a bike holder that big!!
Ah my magical basket, i used to cycle a lot in Darwin (i got this bike 5 years ago) & this basket used to hold my parcels to & from the Winnellie post office.  It's served me well.  So fingers crossed the weekend weather is lovely & i can go for a bike ride.  I'm not THAT into riding that i'd go in the rain, i think the baset indicates 'girlie' over 'serious' & i'll switch to the treadmill instead.  Have great weekends, love Posie

well done you. Cycling with a family of 6 must be quite amazing... I would be hoarse.

Yellow helmet sounds daffodelicious - husband and I got matching luminous orange ski helmets in Japan - mostly so we could find each other when we were lost bad!
Love your basket - i would have put some mangoes in it in Darwin. Case of Katherine mangoes here today at local market for $25 for 14 mangoes... am tempted...

We love cycling as a family also. My parents live in Canberra and we often take our bikes down when we visit and go for a ride around the lake. Stopping at that great playground fort near the Carillion! A wonderful family activity!

That fancy bike is a teenage girl's one (i'm only 5'6") & purchased from ToyWorld in Darwin NT. I think it was even on special at the time!! It's gorgeous, rides beautifully & is super comfortable. Love Posie

Oh I love the idea of cycling to get fit. If only Daylesford wasn't so hilly! Maybe I'm just using that as an excuse! But, like you, I am trying to improve my fitness so I'm back into walking after a long, cold winter. It was beautiful today, walking in the sunshine around the lake. Hope I can keep motivated! Have a great weekend xo
