Greetings all,
This week's Creative Space round is devoted to merchandising at markets to give your stall a little extra something. Gone are the days when plonking your handmade wears on a white table cloth on a trestle & hoping their prettiness will do the trick - customers & market organisers want more!! If you've attended Magnolia Square, the stalls there are beautiful, much effort goes into this. I'm no expert but why not make your stall as lovely as possible?? While i'm not into plain white back drops . . . plain white 'props' are very hard to beat as they are stylish & don't detract from your product.
I really wanted to make my own trees for the entrance at Mathilda's Market last Sunday in Canberra, they will happen as i have the wood, saw & soft orange paint, but purchasing ready made trees just became easier at the 11th hour. I used PaperKlip (hi Melinda) inspired signage & decorated the trees with Sizzix machine cut colourful owls, birds & flowers, with circle bunting on divine twine. Pretty result don't you think??

when you only have a couple of products, author Tania McCartney rocks it with amazing merchandising & enchanting trinkets to enhance her fabulous books!! I mean, Panda nesting dolls . . . birdcages, blossom, so pretty & the globe just sets the back drop of where her books are set . . . China!! Can't wait to see what Tania comes up with for her next children's book in the Riley series - the Curious Koala around Sydney!!
This Mathilda's was at a new venue competing with crazy weather & the Canberra Show, plus many more stalls than before & quite a different crowd. I was actually very unwell (this happens often to market stall holders, bless us, it's a lot of work & often stress) & had my mind on in-laws visiting. Then the horror, some of my products went missing while we were packing the car, including $300 of personal shopping i did at Retro Mummy & Sweet Sistas, so i left devestated & yes, tears!! I really hope they were taken accidentally in the packing up chaos in the thunder & rain & someone finds them in their market stock, soon!! I've been incredibly deflated since. Thanks for the uplifting comments on my last post, really appreciate them. Back to loving my husband while i can. Happy Creative Spacing this week everyone, love Posie
UPDATE: Heather from Handle With Care who was next to me at Mathilda's gave birth the next day!! Now that is some market stall holder devotion, well done Heather, wish i offered you more than just the use of my powerpoint!! Love to new baby Angus, love Posie

Hi! All stalls look so good!!! Great welcome on the trees idea!
I am so sorry to hear that you lost things!! Sometimes I pack everything after market in so much rush that it's hard to find stuff! Hope they will turn up....
Have a great week!
I hope someone finds your goodies very soon. Sometimes I don't bother unpacking my suitcase and just head to the next market so keep your fingers crossed!
Oh i hope your missing things turn up, what a bummer. Your stall photos look gorgeous, great displays and so many lovely things. I really love those welcome trees!
Great post, Posie. I am so sorry to hear you were sick and you lost your loot - I hope you feel better and get it all back soon. Thinking of you. Nic
I love those big white trees so much! I would love some for my house. The whole market looks fab. I hope your goodies find their way back to you soon. X
Ow! I'm sorry your lost stuff! Hopefully someone will return it very soon!
Hope you are feeling better now, too.
Oh Jennie - my heart sank when I read that some of your goodies walked away without you:( That is so sad and I really hope that it is a mistake:(
Enjoy your hubby while you can - take care of yourself.
Your stall looks lovely Posie. All sorts of goodies on that table that I'd love to get my hands on.
oh I hope the bags turn up!!!!!!!!!! all that lovely fabric was for you!
everything looks lovely, mind you my table layout was more of 'find a spot wherever you can for anything!' I've just applied for the next one in canberra so hope to join you at the hyatt again!
Corrie:)
Oh Dear ! Hope someone finds it and lets you know!
So frustrating that you lost your shopping Posie, that's so disappointing. I would have cried too! I hope your next market is a little easier. Peta

Oh no! Surely someone will realise soon that they have picked up the wrong case? Assuming that is what happened? Great post. I love seeing what all these clever people come up with at markets.
Your trees are gorgeous Posie. It is interesting to think about how markets have changed.
I have everything crossed that your goodies turn up.
It all looks just fabulous! Sorry to hear about your wandering goods. Hope the wheel of karma turns them back your way :) k
Such pretty stalls, would love to wander among them.
So sorry to hear about the lost things. I would cry too. I hope they turn up!
Thanks for all that info, the stalls look really great. I guess I have some romantic notion that having a market stall is all fun and niceness (you can tell I haven't done it yet!) so your insights are very interesting.
That's rotten news about your missing stuff, what a way to finish the day!
That was one great post! :) I hope you had fun on the market day and hopefully the missing goodies be returning to you soon!!
Thanks so much every one, i am still holding my breath that someone finds my shopping & products, returns them etc. I just don't get how anyone could do it??!!
