Pay It Forward, indeed . . .

Greetings all, look what the wonderful & super clever Jade from My Art Is My Outlet sent as her Pay It Foward goods from a recent competition on her blog. How super lovely, every piece in the parcel was beautifully made & carefully thought out. Adorable, right down to the sweet card. I took the gorgeous wristlet purse to a Tupperware Party (yes, i'm on the cycle) on Saturday & received lots of ooohhhss & aaahhhsss. The detailed pin cushion is my favourite, makes sewing so enjoyable. The children were drawn to it instantly, so i had to fight for it. Thanks Jade!! Now it's my turn to return the favour. I'm thinking of making it into a little competition, so here goes . . . as Posie has always had a strong focus on custom design from the beginning & the product range has grown steadily over 5 years thanks to fantastic customer suggestions. So i put it to you bloggers to please suggest a new product for Posie to launch with the website make over in January 2008. It can be a rehash of a current product - like a different style bag or detailing on a cushion, most importantly, it will be named after you!! So thinking caps on, i do have lots of things on the drawing board, so great minds might think alike?? Please leave your suggestions as comments to this post & my favourite 3 ideas (it might end up being 3 new products??!!) will receive that product(s) made for them in December. My background is patchwork & hand stitching, plus i draft my own patterns, so make the descriptions nice & clear, or just suggest the concept like "i need somewhere to put my potatoes". Posie was created out of frustration of not being able to find what i wanted in stores, so vent away . . . love Posie
EDIT - competition will run during the whole month of November, so feel free to offer more than one idea!! x x J

Oops, I was talking about the trims! The pincushion looks like a toy, doesn't it? He he he!

I love your ipod covers and it got me thinking. Yesterday I bought 2 NintendoDS's for my kids for Christmas and thought a vinyl cover would be perfect in funky fabrics to keep them clean. They had covers in the shop but they were a bit daggy and uninspiring, so something along the lines of the iPod cover but larger maybe, with a little zip pocket for the game cards??? Food for thought - love your stuff by the way.

ohh what to create!!! I'd like a fabric covered magazine holder please. The ones in my bookcase are very sad and boring so bring on some Posie beauty. Love Liss xx

I'm thinking some cute little fabric baby shoes would look great with your existing range of products. You could do just 3 sizes (sml, med, large)?

ooh how fun! OK so here's something on my to do list, and I'd love to see your take on it- a small purse, with a zippety bit on one side for coins, and a couple of slide sections on the other for 2 or 3 cards, as well as some small notes. I'll send you a little drawing! and of course put on my thinking cap for other ideas! love subyX

the thing that I always have a trouble finding in stores - the right wallet!
need to have - lots of pocket, zippered part for coins, and must be flat.
Also I prefer it to be long vertical-wise - and it's usually the other way around.

hmm.. other general suggestions: and how about vinyl/plastic lunch bag thingies? or the whole cozy shebang - kids bottle, tissue box, etc

ps - thanks for your comment on moca tea, posie! i hope you get to come over and visit mikes2 soon. All your stuff looks so at home there :)

Oooh Posie - great idea!
I have always thought a small zippered pouch of some kind (a groovy one of course!) that has a velcro strap to hang off the pram handles would be great.
The sort of thing you can pop some loose change or your keys into, so you can find them quickly and easily when you are out and about juggling children, shopping and a pram!

Hi Posie,

lovely, lovely blog and such beautiful handiwork! what about little chef's hats to match your cute kiddies aprons...?

I think a laptop pouch would be cool! I made one for hubby in a Mickey Mouse polar fleece so the laptop was protected when he put it in his messenger bag. You could make it like that or slighly bigger with longer handle to actually be a messenger bag but just for the laptop. One would look sooo cool in your retro fabrics Jen :)

You ladies are really giving this some thought, thanks!!
I can't tread on anyone's toes, so have to modify some products so they aren't the same as people i know (like a lady who does chef's hats, instead - i have a range of head scarves on the way, as i hate hair falling into my face, ESPECIALLY when i'm cooking, so cute concept, apron & matching scarf/ headband).
Gee, you all sound like you need a bloody decent handy purse don't you!! Like the pram handle concept too, i loathe velcro, sorry, but love press studs, so same purpose. With 4 children, my pram is my vehicle/ trolley, so i'm with you Karen, like a Nappy Hold All with extra side pocket. I REALLY like that idea!!
Keep them coming . . . love Posie

Oooh snaps - much better than velcro Posie!
You're keeping me up nights with ideas popping into my head!
What about a beach bag - I know there are plenty around but one actually big enough to fit your towel and the two your kids decide not to carry which includes a small zippered pocket for keys and change and a loop fixed near the base of the bag where a water bottle can stand and not tip over and a wet pouch for sunscreen so it doesn't leak through the whole bag.
I don't want much do I - that would be the Ultimate beachbag I think!

Everybody has really put their thinking caps on for this one, haven't they?? I was thinking maybe.... a little softie of some sort, a bird maybe, filled with lavander or something nice like that to scent your clothes draws. They'd be a great gift idea for all ages. I'm still thinking and will get back to you later.

Cheers
Jodie

OK entry no. 2 is one for the working mums- you know those horrible plastic (but wonderfully functional) A4 manilla folders that you get at the newsagent with the velcro fastening? Well how about a fabric covered one, perhaps with either a loopy loop fastening at the front, or a strappy strap that wraps around and just tucks under. strong enough to carry a few important documents, but delicate enough to stand proud in it's prettiness. perhaps even a little PVC pocket on the outside to display a pretty business card (just because i have one!)

Oh Jen - you are going to be a busy busy girl in the new year. I have been waiting and waiting for your range of kids clothes to come out - come on girl when is that going to happen:) Maybe I should become your clothes sewer for you since I am only two hours away!

Hi Posie,
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner with the dimensions. Just have to open the box when the kids aren't around as they are desperate to get their nintendo's. I'll get back to you shortly with the dimensions.

Such great ideas from everyone. I'd love a bag for my knitting. Something big enough to fit my needles and a ball or two of wool. I know these are around, but I'd like one that has a pocket on the outside to hold the pattern, and an inside pocket or two for holding my tape measure, a button or two, perhaps a sewing up needle and a little loop for holding a pen.
It should do up with a popper or a magnetic clasp (not a zip which can snag the wool), so the ball of wool can stay in the bag and stay clean when I am knitting.
I do a lot of knitting away from home - in the car (not when driving!!), at swimming lessons, the cricket, etc, so to be able to lug it around in something stylish, that will keep my work clean would be great!!
Oh, by the way, I will get back to you soon about the thing you sent me - I have lots of thoughts and questions about it!!
X
