Greetings all,
What a glorious Winter day in the country.
We're looking for a neat farm block for our active, animal loving family.
So we headed to Braidwood (beyond our outer limit from the Canberra CBD) & worked our way back, looking at properties, to the Federal Highway. Clocked up 300km between morning tea & lunch!!
Wide open spaces.
Run down wool sheds & barns.
Long dirt roads - where my husband & i start to wonder if this is someone's private driveway??
Just cruising the Great Dividing Range.
When a real estate agent asks "are you Ok with wind farms - they might be visible from the property" they actually should just say "this property is next door to a wind farm!!"
So we're back on the search, for the elusive 100 acres, more or less, with a small list of dreamy requirements like . . . a sealed road with good access for builders, cleared with privacy & some bush, friendly council, water/ dam, in our budget!! All i can say is that we are very patient. Love Posie
Lovely - I was thinking yesterday my dream house would be one where I could pee under the lemon tree unobserved. Difficult on a suburban block... And how do you feel about wind farms? Maybe you could get a windmill of your own...
ReplyDeletesome of it looks SO MUCH like Texas. :) if you can't find it there, just move here! :)
ReplyDeleteOh it looks so wonderful...beautiful countryside!
ReplyDeleteWell I ADORE this area and these photos could have come from my own photo album as our family farm is in Braidwood, between Bungendore and Braidwood. Every weekend and holidays were spent there and my Dad lives part time there now. Good luck with the search, that's all part of the fun isn't it :-D Mel xx
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your search, an exciting adventure is ahead x.
ReplyDeleteLooking for and imagining your dream place is part of the fun. Looks like a gorgeous spot xx
ReplyDeleteIt sure is a trying time searching for the perfect or closest to perfect place., but it'll be worth it in the end..xx
ReplyDeleteMy parents when they were looking for their acerage they saw a picture of a property they wanted to look at - the agent asked if they had wanted a property with a ditch running through the middle through it. As if they knew it had a large ditch if the details didnt tell them. One thing i have worked out in starting to build a house, nothing is ever in your budget, and everything that is bigger than a suburban block costs more.
ReplyDeleteMust be so much fun hunting and dreaming, especially with your husband back. I used to think I was a city girl, but we now live in the country and I'd never willingly go back to live in town. The extra driving time is so worth it to come home to our haven, space, peace and quiet. Can't wait to see where you end up. It will be worth holding out for the perfect place for you. Happy hunting. Cx

Braidwood is a lovely part of the world. I hope you find exactly what you are looking for.
ReplyDeleteMy Dad's side of the family used to live around Braidwood/Bungendore area. They used to have a sheep farm out that way, well until my grandfather lost it to his brother in a poker game...
ReplyDeleteGood luck finding your dream land!
