Greetings all,
Joining with Maxabella Loves 'i'm grateful for' today . . . for me, it's easy, the simple things in life. My darling husband loves freshly squeezed orange juice & you can imagine, it's not on the menu at a desert Army base in Afghanistan. He's back from Brisbane (yeah) & early this morning he tripped to the local produce market & grabbed a 10kg bag (as that's what we need for the family, we're orange maniacs, juiced, frozen, chopped, cake, sorbet) then took our eldest & youngest to Little Athletics. So armed with my twin helpers, we got chopping & squeezing.
'tis the season, these few super juicey oranges made over 1L!!
Fresh & delicious, i've added ice so when handsome soldier comes in before lunch after a hot morning by the long jump pit . . . he can enjoy a long glass of dreamy chilled orange juice. It's also one of my tricks to stretch it out, as these carpal tunnel hands are aching!! I know i know there are juicing machines but really, all those fiddly parts, i'm happy to twist, squeeze, use my tummy muscles & tone my upper arms (ok, talking myself into it) & toss the Tupperware in the dish washer, job done, with love!! Plus he appreciates the handmade effort. We have 3L now & chilling . . .

Tomorrow is the book launch, so excited, my girls are already trying on outfits, just in case they make the newspaper!! This afternoon though, we're checking out more land for our dreamy farm future . . . so i'm seeing shorts, Ts & converse sneakers instead.
Have wholesome weekends everyone, love Posie

Yum! Yum! and more Yum!
ReplyDeleteThat juice looks delish and it's wonderful to know that your hubby is home.
Enjoy the weekend!

That OJ looks SO good, particularly when sitting on the sofa, central heating on, temporarily in London between trips, temperature outside about 2 degrees. And is that still the same butchers block that you have had for over 10 years?? Quality lasts!
ReplyDeleteFor reference people, that Peer Sorenson butcher's block my best friend Sindy is referring too is indeed the same one, but from 15 years ago!! Quality yes, plus it's moved house 8 times!! NO matter how big the kitchen, life still revolves around that chopping block. Love Posie
ReplyDeleteI agree about juicing machines. So many parts to clean - I rarely get it out, but it does save the carpal tunnel hands!
ReplyDeleteThat made my mouth water!
ReplyDeleteOh fresh orange juice is just the bomb!!! A few weeks back I posted a little story about squeezing juice from oranges....t'was a learning lesson for my son who believed juice came from the supermarkets....needless to say he was amazed with the results. Your husband will love enjoying his fresh juice xx
ReplyDeleteLove fresh orange juice. I'm with you on the juicer though - do we really need another piece of kitchen equipment to clean and try to stash somewhere?
ReplyDeleteI used to love going to the markets in Canberra when I lived there...the produce is lovely and fresh! Those orange juice thoughts make my mouth water.
ReplyDeleteYum! One of my kiddos has mulitple food intolerances that includes highly acidic foods - and since I try to not to eat anything around her that she cannot share I very rarely get juice...but oh how I love fresh squeezed OJ!! xxx
ReplyDeleteOh, your husband would be grateful for more than just oranges methinks! More like, being with family eating and drinking OJ... your time with him must be so precious! xx
ReplyDeleteThat orange juice looked so good Our fruit up here is hard to come by because everything is trucked and by the time it gets here....but I can't imagine way over there!
ReplyDeleteLooks delicious! How much oranges did you use to make a liter?
ReplyDeleteoh Yum I love fresh OJ too. Glad your man is home safe too.
ReplyDeleteWe have a little patch of farm land, (well it's still my FIL's) and we are starting to build a few dreams here.
It's all chaos at the moment being here living in a shed part time and traveling back home again.
I wish you lick in finding the perfect new home.
